Experience the Silk Road with your family at the 18th Chinatown Street Festival of food, music, dance, and other multi-cultural offerings

Established in 2001 to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Centre Street Bridge after rehabilitation work, the Chinatown Street Festival (CSF2019) is returning to Calgary’s Chinatown streets for its 18th annual exhibition of Asian culture and Chinatown heritage on Saturday August 17th. As a family fun day, CSF2019 promises to be a cultural experience to be remembered and revisited every year with over 30,000 visitors expected.

The Silk Road was established in China when the Han Dynasty officially opened trade with nations to the west in 130 B.C.Lasting for over 1500 years the Silk Road had a lasting impact on commerce, culture and history. It has been nearly 600 years since the Silk Road was used for international trade connecting China and the Far East with the Middle East and Europe.

This year, Chinatown not forgotten as CSF2019 will reflect a broader multi-cultural experience. So, come be a part and “Experience the Silk Road”.
